Summary: Please restore tabbing shrinkage!

I hate the new tabbing! I like how you can access tabs that are outside
the window, but I HATE that the tabs no longer shrink down to just the
width of an icon. I rely on this, and the new scheme simply does not
work for me.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give the user an option to allow the tabs to
shrink don to icon width. (Also give the user an option to remove the
"close tab" button that appears of the active tab -- I have already
closed numerous tabs because I accidentally hit this.)
